"We made history but it is only three points and now Wolves is the important game.</p><p>"We respect United; a defeat like that can happen to anyone but we were focused and sharp and we always felt it would be our day. </p><p>"When we were under pressure in the opening period we did all the right things as a team. Our fans deserve this chance to celebrate.</p><p>"It was a great game to win but it isn't the goal for the season, that is winning trophies."</p><p>Fellow defender Micah Richards, who played a starring role in the Citizens' backline - helping to weather the storm before Roberto Mancini's men capitalised on their one-man advantage following the sending off of Jonny Evans early in the second half - also expressed his delight.</p><p>"I have never been happier on a football pitch at the end of a game," he grinned. "You have to remember that they were down to 10-men but it was unbelievable.
